Save $1,552/yr rebuilding Kajabi in Zapier

Build a platform to sell a digital product all in Zapier.

Justin Welsh uses Kajabi and spends a lot money on it.

But you don’t have to.

In Kajabi, you have to fork over $159/month just to get multi-step automations.

If you’re looking to sell a course or digital product, you can build an entire platform all within Zapier with advanced automation ready to go.

Today, I’ll show you how to rebuild Kajabi to sell a product all in Zapier… and save $1,552/yr.

P.S. Zapier’s Pro Bundle is your cheat code.

Why build Kajabi in Zapier?

Is it actually worth it to rebuild an entire course platform in Zapier?

I’ll tell you this much: in 2023, it was probably better to just use Kajabi. Gluing together Gmail, Stripe, Airtable, Webflow, Memberstack, and Typeform without a central operations hub ain’t easy.

Even Justin Welsh abandoned the cobbling together process and moved to Kajabi.

But things have changed.

In 2024, you can now build the critical parts of your own Kajabi all within Zapier.

And here’s the thing: the story of “everything under one roof” is a myth.

Even Kajabi has mixed messaging between “all-in-one” and “automation/integration.”

Kajabi's mixed messaging

So what is it?

You don’t need everything under one roof. You don’t need a cobbled together mess, either.

You need to build a simple user interface (Zapier Interfaces) and data storage (Zapier Tables) and let the other apps do what they do best (Mailchimp, Stripe, Youtube, Google).

This way you can save money while keeping your builder juices flowing.

How to build Kajabi in Zapier

Here are the pieces you build in Zapier:

  • The user-facing portal to access the course with user logins
  • Embedded videos to watch the course form one place
  • A customer list with purchase and access information
  • Forms for feedback and testimonials
  • Embedded Gcal scheduling for calls
  • Workflows and automation

You then rely on other apps to do what they do best:

  • Mailchimp for email marketing
  • Youtube for video hosting
  • Stripe for payments
  • Google for appointment scheduling and notifications

By building in Zapier, you let each app do its best work which saves you money and time like it has never before.

Interfaces, Tables, and Zaps that power the course platform

The setup is simple.

It has one locked-down Interface with all of the videos as separate pages. A Zap triggers when a purchase is made and gives the appropriate access and stores the customer in a table. There are forms embedded to capture feedback and testimonials.

Wrapping things up

I admit: piecing together solutions in Zapier doesn’t always have the strength you need it to have. But with Tables and Interfaces, Zapier is making strides in the right direction.

You really want to find ways to simplify your tech stack. If you can save yourself from yet another account to manage and instead build more in Zapier, you’ll end up saving yourself some time (and money).

Plus it’s a blast to build.

That always keeps me coming back.

To recap:

  • Everything “under-one-roof” is a myth. Integrations and automation are key players.
  • Build core functionality, UI, and automation using Zapier and use other apps for what they do best.
  • Find your balance, aim for a simplified and affordable tech stack

That’s all for this week!

Happy Building,

Bryce
