Build and Sell Chatbots

For the first time, build something in Zapier and sell it.

Since you’ve been using Zapier, you’ve wanted to be able to sell what you’ve built.

But with Zaps, it hasn’t been possible.

Zaps require app connections and authentication—something you can’t white-label (and something that goes against Zapier’s TOS).

You’ve been stuck creating Zapier accounts for other people OR getting the password to their Zapier account in order to build an automation for them.

To sell what you build in Zapier, you must build something else.

You have to avoid needing to connect 3rd-party apps.

Today, you’ll learn how you can build Chatbots for selling

Let’s break it down.

Building and selling Chatbots

Let me be clear—I haven’t personally sold a chatbot… yet.

We’re doing this thing together.

Chatbots are Zapier’s first self-contained product. It’s a complete lego set with everything you need right out of the box.

Agencies at Zapier are buying custom plans so that they can build 100+ Chatbots and sell them to clients.

You can do it, too.

Here’s the challenge:

  1. Go find a small business with under 20 employees (like a local service business)
  2. Go to their website
  3. Confirm that they don’t have a chatbot
  4. Build them a chatbot matching their brand (colors, logo) and use their own website pages as knowledge sources. You’ll also set up the chatbot to collect leads.

Send the business an email with a quick personalized video that shows them the chatbot. Here’s what you say in the email:

“Noticed you aren’t collecting leads with an AI chatbot on your website. It’s not hard to setup. Here’s a 60-second video where I’ll show how I’ve already done it all for you: [insert video URL and use Zappy to record the chatbot in action.]

Feel free to talk with the chatbot yourself: [link to chatbot]

Let me know if you want to get more leads with this thing. Just reply “yes” and we can talk about it.”

Clearly you’d want to adjust the messaging and figure out what works best. I’m not a sales expert.

But, assuming you figure out pricing and actually sell the thing, you would only need to do two things:

  • Send the embed code
  • Send them an email notification for every new lead that comes in

The chatbot would serve as the first step but you and I both know a lead’s journey doesn’t end there. There is a ton more you could do with automation but at this point it would require some app authentications (like to their CRM).

If you go further (for now), you’d have to go and build everything out on behalf of your client with their own Zapier account.

Want to take the challenge?

Here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to find a list of businesses to reach out to except because I work at Zapier I’ll be trying to get the businesses to match what I build but in their own Zapier account.

The approach will be more or less the same, though.

I’m going to:

  • Find small businesses
  • Go to their website
  • Confirm they don’t have a chatbot (and for me, confirm they aren’t a chatbots user)
  • Build them a chatbot and send them an email about it

You in?

To recap:

  • With Chatbots, you can finally sell what you’ve built in Zapier
  • Find the right business, build a chatbot for them
  • Take the challenge and do this with me!

That’s all for this week!

Happy Building (and selling),

Bryce
