12 Ideas to use by-Zapier apps
Today I’m going to teach you 12 ways to build with home-cooked Zapier apps (the apps they’ve built themselves).
When I was in college there was a Nugget Kingdom on campus (some know it to be called Chik-Fil-A). 57,000 nuggets later, my views on home-cooked meals were established. Chicken from mom was far superior. In some stretch of the imagination this introduction clucks its way smoothly into this week’s post…
Today I’m going to teach you 12 ways to build with home-cooked Zapier apps (the apps they’ve built themselves).
Most people don’t even discover all 27+ apps that the Zapier team has built, much less put all of them to work.
But by the end of this issue you’ll have 12 ideas on how to use Zapier-built apps to season your automations (with some that you may have never thought of before).
- Interfaces (alpha) — Manage your projects like Trello. I made a Garage Conversion Project kanban board. Feel free to check it out and add a project you think I should work on. This board is connected to a Zap so if you move a project to “Complete” it’ll send me an email. Get access to Interfaces.
- Web Parser — Run a community? Every week create forum topics from parsed web pages of your choosing.
- Tables (beta) — Create a Table to input the basic information from one of your new hires. Then, click a button to send them through a Zap to onboard them into all of your software in 1 minute. Get access to Tables.
- Paths — Add a “what industry are you in?” dropdown question to a contact form on your website. Then, create a Zap that goes down different paths based on the contact’s industry and sends a unique email with their industry-related information included.
- Delay — Create your own email drip campaign using Gmail in Zapier. Delay each email by 1 day to create a 7-day welcome email series.
- Transfer — Did you set up a Zap to transfer Facebook Lead Ads to a Google Sheet but didn’t get it set up in time? Use Transfer to go back and get historical data. Try Transfer.
- Storage — Every time you get a new lead from a form submission, use Storage to count up by 1. You’ll have a running total that you can then use in a weekly Slack or Email message to your team.
- RSS — Choose your 5 favorite online writers. Then, using their websites and RSS, combine all of their new posts each week into a single email you send to yourself.
- Code — You don’t need to be an expert in Javascript to use Code by Zapier. Try using a code step to extract email addresses from some text. Here’s where you can copy and paste code.
- Formatter — Use their Text > Spreadsheet-Style Formula to do just about anything you could do in Google Sheets or Excel but within Zapier. Here’s a list of formulas you could try.
- Sub-Zap (beta) — Developer "functions" but within Zapier. To notify my team in Slack in a Zap, I call a Sub-Zap that handles the notification. 10+ Zaps can call the same Slack Sub-Zap. Saves me 2+ hours a week when I need to change the Slack message.
- AI — Summarize and read all the newsletters in your industry in 5 minutes. Here's how to do it: https://twitter.com/podcastharry/status/1633459479122685956
Your Zaps are going to taste so good.
Happy Building,
